Privacy Policy for Cascade Bookmark Manager
Last updated: July 2025
1. Introduction
Cascade Bookmark Manager ("Cascade", "we", "us" or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Cascade handles information when you install or use our Chrome extension, what data we collect (and what we don’t), how we use it, and your choices regarding that data.
2. Data We Do Not Collect
Login or Authentication Information: Cascade does not collect, process, or store any user login credentials, passwords, OAuth tokens, API keys, or other authentication material for any service.
Personal Identifiers: We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, or any other personally identifiable information (PII).
Payment Information: We do not collect or process credit card numbers, billing addresses, or any payment details within the extension.
Private Communications or Files: Cascade does not access or transmit the content of your emails, chat messages, files, or documents beyond the bookmarks you explicitly choose to add.
3. Data We Do Collect and Store Locally
Cascade may read and store certain browsing information locally in your browser’s storage in order to power its features:
Bookmarks & URLs: When you choose to import, fetch, or organize bookmarks—whether you add YouTube playlists, subscriptions, generic web links, or local file URLs—these items are saved in your browser’s local storage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server.
Folder & Tag Metadata: Any folder structures, custom tags, sorting preferences, or UI settings you create are stored locally as well.
4. Usage of Collected Data
All locally stored data is used exclusively to:
Display and navigate your organized bookmarks within Cascade.
Enable features such as search, filters, dynamic folders, and backups (if enabled).
Persist your preferences and UI settings between sessions.
Under no circumstances do we transmit your bookmarks, tags, folder structures, or any other locally stored data to external servers.
5. Third‑Party Services and Permissions
Cascade requests only the minimal permissions required for its single purpose of bookmark management:
activeTab: To inject our sidebar UI into the active YouTube or web page when you initiate a fetch or navigation.
storage: To persist your bookmarks, folder data, and settings in your browser.
tabs: To open YouTube pages and communicate between the extension and content scripts.
bookmarks: To import your existing Chrome bookmarks when you choose to fetch them.
scripting: To manage UI injection and right‑click menu options.
Host permission ( *://www.youtube.com/*): To read YouTube playlist/subscription pages when you explicitly request scraping.
We do not share your data with third parties nor use it for advertising or analytics.
6. Security
Your data remains on your device. We recommend you maintain browser security best practices (e.g., keep your browser up to date, use strong device passwords). Cascade does not collect data that could be compromised remotely.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
All data saved by Cascade lives in your browser’s storage until you uninstall the extension or explicitly clear it via Cascade’s settings.
Uninstalling the extension removes all associated data from your browser.
8. Children’s Privacy
No Collection from Minors: Cascade does not knowingly collect any personal information from children of any age. In fact, as noted above, Cascade does not collect personal identifiers from any user.
Not Directed to Minors: Our extension and its content are not targeted to children, and no aspect of Cascade is designed for use by persons under 16 years of age.
Parental Rights: If you become aware that a child under 16 has provided us with personal information without your consent, please notify us immediately at mindweavercascade@gmail.com.
Prompt Deletion: Upon learning that we have collected personal information from a child under 16, we will promptly delete such data from our systems.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be noted with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Cascade after changes are made signifies your acceptance of the new policy.
