Open your browser and go to the Chrome Web Store page.
Click the Add to Chrome button in the top right.
In the confirmation pop‑up, click Add extension.
Once installed, you’ll see the Cascade icon appear in your toolbar—you're ready for the next step!
Click the Cascade icon in your Chrome toolbar.
In the popup (see right), click LAUNCH CASCADE.
A resizable sidebar will slide in from the right—that’s your Cascade Library (it’s empty at first).
To start filling it quickly, you can scrape your YouTube playlists and subscriptions (covered in the next bullet point).
⚠️ You must be signed in to your YouTube account in this browser for scraping and adding to work.
Open the extension popup and click Fetch YouTube Subscriptions or Fetch YouTube Playlists.
A new tab will open to YouTube and automatically begin scraping.
When scraping finishes, the Cascade sidebar will slide in from the right—this is your library.
In the left pane, click Add Folder, type a name, then double‑click it to open.
In the right pane, right‑click the empty area and choose Add YouTube Subscriptions or Add YouTube Playlists.
In the selection menu that appears, check the items you want and click Add Selected to Folder at the bottom.
Open the extension popup and click Fetch Browser Bookmarks.
The extension will pull in your full Chrome bookmark tree and open the Cascade sidebar.
In the left pane, double‑click the folder where you want to import your bookmarks.
When the folder appears in the right pane, right‑click on its blank background and select Add Chrome Bookmarks.
In the “Add Chrome Bookmarks” menu, navigate your bookmark folders and tick the boxes next to any folders or individual bookmarks you’d like to import (ticking a folder selects all its contents, which you can then fine‑tune by unchecking items).
Click Add Selected Bookmarks to Folder at the bottom of the right pane.
Your imported items will appear as tiles—folders become folder tiles, and individual URLs become web‑URL tiles.
In the left pane, double‑click the folder where you want to add new tiles.
In the right pane header, click the Add Tile button (green square with “+”).
In the “Add New Tile” dialog, choose your tile type from the dropdown:
Folder
YouTube: Subscription/Channel, Playlist, Video, or Short
Web URL
Local File
For YouTube or Web URL tiles:
Paste the URL into the field.
Click Add.
For Local File tiles:
Select a file category (Image, Video, Audio, Text, HTML or PDF).
Paste the file path (Shift + Right‑click a file → “Copy as path”).
Click Add.
Your new tiles will appear in the right pane with the correct icons.
Quick actions:
Double‑click a URL‑based tile → opens in a new browser tab.
Double‑click a local‑file tile → copies its path to the clipboard (paste into Explorer or the browser’s address bar to open).
Once you paste the path into the browser’s address bar, Chrome will open or play that file—audio, video, images, PDFs and HTML all load natively.
Note: We’re working on multi‑file selection for local files (instead of manually typing the path); due to Chrome’s security model, you must paste file paths manually.
